Abstract
Active Surveillance of adverse drug reaction(ADR) is the ADR reporting system reported
spontaneously by physicians, pharmacists and nurses when ADRs are detected. It is an effective method to help recognize a harmful case, incidences with only a few or newly detected, and it plays an important role in signal detection of post market surveillance. We have reported ADR since 2009, but the number of cases is still minimal. In this study, we analyzed ADR reporting system in progress, and considered how to encourage ADR reporting in Eulji Medical Center.
We analyzed 223 cases of ADR collected from the hospital OCS (Order Communication System) from January 2009 to September 2012 ; 43 cases were reported in 2009, 94 cases in 2010, 49 cases in 2011, and 37 cases in 2012. The number of cases in 2010 is the highest because of hospital evaluation conducted in January 2011. Classifying reporter¡¯s occupations, nurses are relatively more cooperative than others.
Majority of ADR symptoms are cutaneous (42%), followed by gastro-intestinal (21%), altered blood level (12%), respiratory (11.5%) and etc. Remarkable symptoms (turned mouth, paralyzed tongue, eyeball deviation, etc.) are reported with low frequency, but it must be treated immediately. In the future, ADR reporting system is more activated, and we can expect more cases of low frequency ADRs.
